Career Summary

Joined Sumitomo Bank (currently Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) in 1978. After achieving many successes in corporate sales, Mr. Shimizu held a number of important positions, including Managing Executive Officer and General Manager of the Corporate Business Management Division, and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer, and in 2012 he was appointed Representative Director and Vice President of the bank, and in 2014 he was appointed Director and Vice Chairman of the bank. After retiring from the bank in 2015, he joined SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. In 2016, he became the firm's Representative Director and President, and in April 2020, he became the firm's Representative Director and Chairman, leading the company's development. He was appointed as a Director of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group from June 2020 to June 2021. In May 2022, he was appointed Special Advisor to the Nippon Sangyo Suishin Kiko Group . He also serves as an advisor to several domestic and international funds and companies. He has supported the fulfillment of each company's mission to contribute to the environment, society and corporate governance in Japan and the world. He also serves as the Chairman of the Yamanashi Prefecture Association and as a Director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Association, promoting the development of the local economy and cooperation with the international community in Japan. He was appointed Advisor to Frontier Management Inc. in December 2023.
