Achievements

Mr. Komori has been sent to London, UK on assignment twice: first with Sumitomo Bank from 1989 to 1996, and once again with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation from 2003 to 2004. He has been engaged in financial business with both non-Japanese companies, including airlines from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and Japanese companies expanding into Europe.

While at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mr. Komori served as General Manager of the Yokohama Ekimae Corporate Sales Department (2013–2016), and was involved in commercial banking business with major business corporations, medical and social welfare corporations, educational corporations, and religious corporations in Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2015, he was appointed Director. While in the Corporate Advisory Division, he served as the General Manager of the Financial Sponsors Department (2006–2013) and Director and Deputy General Manager of the overall division (2016–2017). During these periods, he directed and oversaw capital policy, LBO finance, M&A finance, M&A and MBO deal origination, business revitalization, PE fund introductions, introductions to business partners, overseas expansion, etc., in order to propose and provide various services that contribute to enhancing corporate value of clients.

At SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., he served as Executive Officer and General Manager (2017–2018) and Managing Executive Officer and General Manager (2018–2021), directing and overseeing the various corporate, investment banking, and M&A advisory departments. He has promoted investment banking business such as M&A advisory services, equity finance, and debt finance for companies in Japan and overseas. He has been directing and overseeing the overseas bases and overseas secondment destinations (New York, San Francisco, London, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Hanoi, Mumbai) of the Wholesale Banking Unit (corporate transactions), thereby strengthening the global franchise.

As Managing Executive Officer and Deputy General Manager of the Wholesale Business Unit of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc., Inc. and Managing Executive Officer and Deputy General Manager of the Wholesale Business of SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. (2020-2021), he has strengthened cooperation between banks and securities firms, enhanced compliance, and introduced a global standard personnel system.
