Takashi Abe joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. in 1991. After developing his career at its Sapporo branch and Due Diligence Department, Mr. Abe was transferred to Nomura Corporate Information Co., Ltd. (currently, the Corporate Information Department of Nomura Securities Co., Ltd.). From then on, he continued to engage in M&A advisory operations at Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. He joined Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. in 2016, where he oversaw the overall investment banking business for medium-sized companies in his capacity as assistant general manager of the Corporate Business Division. He joined Frontier Management Inc. in 2019.
At Nomura Securities Co., Ltd., Mr. Abe was involved in M&A for the financial sector and business revitalization, as well as M&A for medium-sized companies that are clients of Nomura’s domestic sales departments. He has been involved in more than 100 major M&A projects, including the management integration between Daido Insurance and Taiyo Insurance, the acquisition of Kanebo Cosmetics /support for Kanebo Ltd. by Industrial Revitalization Corporation, the management integration between MTFG and UFJHD, the merger between Tomen and Toyota Tsusho, the establishment of a joint venture by Sumitomo Corporation and SMFG’s Lease/Auto lease business, the investment in Gifu Bank by Juroku Bank, the M&A of MUFG’s domestic non-bank businesses (conversion of Acom, Nicos and Kabu.com into subsidiaries and spin-off of the Mobit business), the management integration of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, Aioi Insurance and Nissay Dowa Insurance, the privatization of Ashikaga Bank, the management integration of Chuo Mitsui Trust Holdings and Sumitomo Trust Bank, support for Japan Airlines by Industrial Revitalization Corporation, the management integration of Tomony Holdings and Taisho Bank, the stock swap between Hitachi Zosen and Ohnami, acquisition of Mitsui Life Insurance by Nippon Life Insurance as a wholly-owned company, and integration of management between Joyo Bank and Ashikaga Holdings.
At Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd, Mr. Abe was responsible for the origination of M&A and business succession projects, among other projects, while at the same time providing support for the overall investment banking business for medium-sized companies. M&A projects that he was involved with included the stock transfer between PCIHD and leafnet Co., Ltd. and investment in the United project by MSD Investments.
