Shunsuke Saeki


Shunsuke Saeki registered as an attorney with the Tokyo Bar Association in 1998 (50th term). After a period with Tozai Sogo Law Office, he joined Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago in 2003. He moved to Jones Day Tokyo Office in 2005 and then to Allen & Overy Tokyo in 2007. Mr. Saeki joined Frontier Management Inc. in 2010 and was appointed Managing Director in 2013.

Career Overview

At Tozai Sogo Law Office, Mr. Saeki dealt mainly with M&A and equity investment issues and with a large number of lawsuits, including litigation involving securities and intellectual property rights.

At Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Mr. Saeki assisted a Japanese firm in a large-scale patent case.

At Jones Day, Mr. Saeki dealt with numerous M&A projects in Japan and overseas and offered advice on investment in domestic real estate by a real estate fund, a government fund and others and regarding organization of a Japan fund by American and European PE funds.

At Allen & Overy, Mr. Saeki mainly led cross-border M&A and financing projects and acted as attorney of European equity investors in tax affairs and other cases.

At Frontier Management Inc., Mr. Saeki provided assistance in drafting of reasonable rehabilitation plans in consideration of their viability at the planning stage and supported coordination among stakeholders for their establishment and implementation. For example, he played a leading role in a complex voluntary liquidation project involving a number of creditors and stakeholders, developed a rehabilitation plan involving various forms of financial assistance from a group of major creditors, conducted planning and support for rehabilitation at the invitation of sponsors and drafted a rehabilitation plan involving the independent efforts of a failing business to reduce costs, including assets sales and a rescheduling of loans with a syndicate of banks.

In 2007, Mr. Saeki was a member of the Taskforce on MBO Transactions, etc. of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
