Tsutomu (Tom) Kurimura

Tsutomu (Tom) Kurimura joined Nomura Research Institute in 1992 and worked for KPMG Chicago and Detroit as a senior manager from 1996, HLS Chicago, Indiana and Detroit as a partner from 2006, and Plante Moran Detroit as a partner from 2015. He joined Frontier Management Inc. in 2022.

As the Japanese Business Services partner at Plante Moran leading the Michigan and Indiana areas, Tom supervised Japanese and American staff and assisted over 300 Japanese companies in the U.S. with financial statement and internal control audits, financial and tax due diligence, M&A, PMI, review and development of costing, restructuring, tax planning, cyber security, ERP selection, cost reduction for health insurance, selection of potential expansion sites in the U.S. and overall cost reduction. He also regularly spoke on the future of the automotive industry and mobility with U.S. members.

As HLS's partner in charge of the Midwest region, Tom established and managed the Chicago and Detroit office, contributing to the expansion of the firm's business. As a liaison partner, he worked with BDO USA and alliance members on new business development, joint proposals and services.

At KPMG, Tom was involved in financial statement and 401(k) plan audits and financial and tax due diligence for Japanese and U.S. companies. He was also involved in securitization of bad loans for Japanese companies.

At Nomura Research Institute, Tom conducted research on macroeconomic issues in the U.S. and Southeast Asian countries and assisted senior economists in their analysis. He organized the Annual Global Macroeconomics Forum, inviting prime ministers of major countries, think tank representatives, and CEOs of major companies.
